KIWIX: AN ANDROID APPLICATION TO DOWNLOAD WIKIPEDIA

Originally, Kiwix is ​​free software developed for GNU/Linux, Windows, Mac OSX and recently Android. Among other things, it allows you to consult documents from the web offline.

But the most interesting thing is that the Kiwix application is available on the Google system and will allow you to store the entire Wikipedia on your phone or tablet.

To take advantage of it now, follow these few instructions:

 
Download the Kiwix app from the Play Store

  • Go to this link to download the ZIM file of your choice. For information, know that English is the most provided language on the encyclopedia and that its file weighs less than 20 GB, enough to store it if you have a large microSD card.
  • Transfer it to your memory card (if you have enough free space
  • Launch the Kiwix app and with the “Menu” button (to the left of the “Home” button), tap on “Upload File”:
