Find the best place to stay in Berlin

Berlin is a large and diverse capital, where you will have a lot of choice when it comes to finding a place to stay. To choose the place that will best meet your expectations, it will be useful to have a fairly clear idea of what you want to do and see during your stay in Berlin.

where to sleep berlin

Certain districts, such as Mitte, will be perfect base for a cultural stay and to discover cultural and historical sites. Others, like Kreuzberg, will suit you better if you want to party and spend lively evenings in the German capital. Still others, like Charlottenburg, are more bourgeois and upscale neighborhoods. Whatever your desires, you can find the perfect place to stay.

Of course, the question of the budget is also to be taken into account, as is that of travel. Staying in the most central districts will allow you to save time, but this will often go hand in hand with slightly higher prices.

Finally, as always, whatever the period in which you plan to visit Berlin, I advise you to book your nights as soon as possible, the ideal being to do so as soon as you know the exact dates of your stay. Berlin is an increasingly popular destination, and if you wait too long, you will often have to settle for second-best accommodations.

And if you want to know when is the best time to go there, you will find the answers to all your questions in my article when to go to Berlin.

Where to stay in Berlin? Let’s go to Mitte!

Mitte is located in the very center of Berlin, it is the historical and cultural center, where major tourist sites are located such as the Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, Alexanderplatz, Postdamer Platz, the Reichstag Palace and the Museum Island.

Staying in this ideally located district will allow you to quickly reach many sites on foot, and not waste too much time on public transport to reach other areas of Berlin. It is therefore a perfect location, especially for fairly short stays. Be careful though, I am talking here about the Mitte district, and not the district of the same name, which is much larger.

You can find a very nice variety of accommodation in this area. The prices are quite high, but some establishments still offer very affordable rates for such a good location.

For me it’s one of the best options if you don’t know where to sleep in Berlin!

Kreuzberg

Kreuzberg is just south of Mitte, near Checkpoint Charlie. This district, which is nicknamed the “ little Istanbul ”, is therefore very well located, not far from the main attractions of Berlin. Unlike Mitte, where the evenings and nights are relatively calm, Kreuzberg is a district that is intended above all for people who want to discover the festive nocturnal atmosphere of Berlin. If you’re wondering where to go out in Berlin, this is the area to go to!

A word of advice: don’t choose a hotel in this area if you want to go to bed at 9 p.m. Kreuzberg is a very lively district, appreciated by Berliners as well as by expatriates and tourists from all over the world.
